“All operators need to have a day like this”

Not our words, the words of Stuart Cruice.

Stuart is a Sound Guarantee Engineer at NEP Visions, and was one of the first people to attend Calrec’s programme of free one-day Apollo training sessions at the Hilton Kensington in London this week. Hosted by UK Sales Manager Jim Green, the training consists of a complete overview of the desk, panels, wiring, operation, DSP, network and rack modules, plus any application questions.

Stuart, who has been with NEP Visions for 12 years, was in the first group to attend:

All operators need to have a day like this. I essentially was looking for a 101 on the Apollo, and it was very beneficial to spend so much time in front of one.

Neil Ottley, also from NEP Visions, added:

It is very useful to get the time to get to know these desks – often on an OB the desk is already set up in a given configuration, and the opportunity to play with the desk in a more relaxed environment is very welcome. Sessions like this take the mystique out of the technology.

In addition, and this is really an unexpected bonus, the Hilton layed on some quite delicious cakes which you can see pictured above, and we are delighted to announce that they are an integral part of the day.

Jim Green:

I’m really pleased that people have found these sessions so valuable. If anyone would like anything specific covering as part of the training we will tailor it to suit – these drop in sessions are designed to directly benefit operators and sound engineers, and so we are very flexible. Attendees are very welcome to email with their own agenda!

Calrec are holding two more drop-in training sessions on 17th and 18th July, with more dates to be confirmed later in the year. The sessions are open to all but places are limited to five per session and are on a first come first serve basis.

Please email Jim to book a place, and we will reserve you a cake.
