Dolby’s new 7.1 and home theatre products

At a press event in San Francisco, Dolby has unveiled its new 7.1 technology, using ‘Transformers: Dark Of The Moon’, ‘Cars 2′ and ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ for the demo.

A suite of new home theatre products allow users to save presets for their systems and control smartphones and tablets (though not those from Apple, at least for the time being) over HDMI to simulate Dolby sound effects.

The company also revealed improvements to its 3D cinema technology.
