IABM at NAB 2012

Well the show’s over for another year and from all accounts it has been very successful. On the final day I managed to catch up with Megan Haywood, Marketing and Projects Manager for the IABM to find out what they have been up to in Las Vegas.

Megan said:

Everyone we have spoken to has said the show has been great for them and overall there has been a general feeling of positivity. The number of people at the show has been high and members have been excited about the footfall on their stands.

We’ve been here to support over 200 of our members and have also been busy recruiting and making new contacts. We have even opened an office in the USA which is based in San Diego and is headed up by Holly Cueller and this was a great opportunity for everyone to get to know her.

The IABM has held three events during the NAB period starting on the Saturday prior to the show for their pre-show party. This was an informal networking event for everyone to mingle and chat about what they were doing at this year’s show. Following that they had a manufacturers forum which included an interview with Clyde Smith of Fox and on Monday morning they held a breakfast briefing during which there was a panel session with a group of senior industry executives. All in all they have been pretty busy and it appears that they are continuing to expand their sphere of influence.

Megan continued:

We have also been conducting a members survey for the show and the results of this will be published in a few weeks. We have, of course, been promoting our Training Academy which is proving very popular and there are also more courses available to do online now, which can be completed at your leisure.

It sounds like NAB 2012 was a success for everyone which is great news for our industry. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what the coming year brings. All that’s left for me to do now is say goodbye to the sunshine and drag my weary body home to England. Over and out, see you in Blighty!
