The Binaural Diaries is a blog containing field recordings and sundry ‘sound photographs’ that is populated and maintained by Bristol-based IT pro Ollie Hall. He makes his recordings using a pair of Sound Professionals SP-TFB-2 binaural microphones and a Zoom H2 recorder (sometimes using the H2′s built-in stereo mics for conveninence), encoding straight to 48kHz/24-bit .wav format, and applying a small amount of amplification if necessary. Early recordings on the site were made using an unbranded pair of binaural mics and a Sony MZ-R50 minidisc recorder. Also on Ollie’s site are helpful links to many other libraries of binaural recordings.
