We’ve featured GoIndustry DoveBid on this site before, who are once again managing an online auction, this time on behalf of the BBC World Service. They have over 100 Lots of general audio & radio equipment including audio consoles, speakers, cd players…a host of lovely old audio gear including several pieces of classic Calrec kit.
Up for grabs are what looks to us like an early BBC-specific Compact series console, complete with upside-down faders and a heavily modified channel strip, and two rather nice and still sought-after RQD 6400 Twin Stereo and Compresser/Limiter units. According to a fairly recent thread on Gearslutzare not only “really really awesome”, but also “very very lovely.” In fact, elsewhere on Gearslutz it’s described thusly:

Thrill is that the stereo compressor or the channel strip thingy ma bob that they made and i think are still making? Calrec stuff is SO underated and undervalued its like the stock of the year in an audio sense that keeps on returning consistently!
We’ve really got to be paying more attention to this forum!
While we are feeling frivolous, why not buy an entire Outside Broadcast truck? Like this one courtesy of Onvision, which comes in a very pretty NEP Visions-esque blue and which features a 48 channel Q Series. Cameras not included, but it does have the obvious benefit of a walk on roof platform.
There’s lots of good stuff on auction here. Have a browse around, bag yourself a bargain…Lots closing from 22nd November 2011, 10am GMT.
